Meet Heather

Caring for People Was Never Just a Career

For Heather Kubany, helping people has always come naturally.

She entered the healthcare world because she wanted to care for others. Over time, however, she became increasingly drawn to a different way of looking at care—one that sees the whole person rather than simply the condition, diagnosis, or list of tasks in front of them.

Heather Kubany

Founder, Keeping Them Home LLC

She eventually stepped away from that world to focus on raising her two boys. Today, she is a proud mom of two teenage boys, with a home that also includes the pets she loves. Family, home, and caring for others have always been a big part of Heather's life.

A Life Built Around Making Things Better

Heather has always had an instinct for noticing what would make someone's life more comfortable, beautiful, organized, or enjoyable.

She poured that energy into creating beautiful homes for her own family and helping others with interior design, color, organization, cleanliness, cooking, and the countless little details that make a house feel cared for.

Those abilities eventually found a much bigger purpose.

About ten years ago, Heather made a personal commitment to helping aging adults remain in their own homes.

Approximately five years later, that commitment became

Keeping Them Home LLC.

More Than a Checklist of Caregiving Duties

Heather believes the basic responsibilities of caregiving should be a given.

They should be done correctly, consistently, and with pride.

But Heather believes exceptional care goes far beyond a checklist.

Quality of life matters.

Just because someone is getting older, their body is changing, or they can no longer do the things they once could does not mean they have to stop living.

Heather believes deeply that aging should never mean giving up on the things that bring someone happiness, purpose, dignity, or joy.

It might mean helping someone with their hair so they feel good about themselves.

It might mean remembering their favorite treat and bringing it along.

It might mean recognizing that today is simply too beautiful to stay inside and taking an impromptu ride to enjoy the ocean, trees, sunshine, or changing seasons.

It might mean encouraging someone to get dressed up for dinner, helping them pursue an old hobby, sitting outside together on a beautiful afternoon, or simply taking the time to have a conversation.

Sometimes the smallest gesture becomes the part of the day someone remembers most.

Heather also believes older adults should never be dismissed simply because they are old.

They are amazing people. They have lived. They have experienced things most of us can only imagine. They have stories, wisdom, humor, heartbreak, accomplishments, and memories.

And often, what they want most is surprisingly simple:

Someone who will listen.

Someone who isn't rushing them.

Someone who doesn't assume they have nothing valuable left to contribute.

Someone who sees the person—not just the age, the limitations, or the diagnosis.

Heather's approach is simple:

Pay attention. Know the person. Protect their dignity. Listen to them. And care enough to do more than what is required.

Honesty. Integrity. Accountability.

Three values sit at the center of Heather's life and Keeping Them Home:

Honesty

Families deserve clear, truthful communication — even when the conversation is difficult.

Integrity

Doing the right thing matters whether someone is watching or not.

Accountability

When you are entrusted with the care of another human being, responsibility cannot be taken lightly.

Heather's  faith deeply influences her commitment to serving others, and as Keeping Them Home grows, she looks for caregivers who share that same spirit of service and these fundamental values.

Her goal is not simply to build a staff.

It is to build a team of people who care the way she cares.

The Personal Touch Matters

Years of listening to older adults and their families have given Heather an unusual understanding of what aging can actually feel like.

She has heard the fears.

The frustrations.

The family disagreements.

The medical stories.

The desire to remain independent.

And, perhaps most importantly,

the things older adults sometimes hesitate to tell their own families.

Her years of experience caring for people have also given her valuable perspective when families are trying to navigate changing care needs, medical appointments, procedures, recovery, and the many unexpected challenges that can come with aging.

But Heather brings something else to the table: an energetic, positive personality and a willingness to tell people what she genuinely thinks.

She can be warm, bubbly, funny, direct, and fiercely protective of the people entrusted to her care.

Even demanding clients often discover very quickly that Heather isn't there simply to perform a job.

She is there because she cares.

Some clients have even described her as an angel.

Heather would probably be more comfortable simply saying she is doing what she believes people should do for one another.

She Has Never Been Very Good at "Staying Inside the Box"

Heather grew up in Marblehead, Massachusetts, surrounded by one of the most beautiful coastal environments on the North Shore.

She never stopped appreciating it.

Today, she still finds her way to the beach and into the salty Atlantic whenever she can — regardless of what the calendar says the temperature should be.

That independent streak follows her into business as well.

Heather does not want Keeping Them Home to become another large, impersonal care company where clients become schedules, employees become numbers, and decisions are made from a corporate office far removed from the people receiving care.

She believes deeply in the personal touch.

Knowing the client.

Knowing the family.

Knowing what makes someone laugh.

Knowing what they are afraid of.

Knowing when something has changed.

Knowing what matters to them.

And being willing to go a little farther when someone needs it.

Building Keeping Them Home Without Losing What Makes It Special

Keeping Them Home has grown into an established home-care business, but Heather is determined that growth will never come at the expense of the qualities that created it.

She continues looking for exceptional caregivers who can bring honesty, integrity, accountability, warmth, initiative, and genuine compassion into someone's home.

In many ways, Heather is attempting to do something very difficult:

Build a team that can carry the same personal standard of care she would provide herself.

That is what 'Keeping Them Home' is becoming.

Not corporate care.

   Not care by checklist.

                        Not simply keeping someone safe.

          Helping them keep living.

from people who understand that being invited into someone's home is a privilege.

Want to Talk With Heather?

You do not need to know exactly what kind of care your family needs before reaching out.

Tell Heather what is happening, what you are worried about, and what you hope can remain possible.

Sometimes the best place to begin is simply with a conversation.
